Are there experts in their fields who simply cannot impart their knowledge? Some people are born Learners, Others are born teachers.
Think of Tiger Woods, He's world no. 1, but does that mean that he cannot have a mentor to help him better his skills and swing?
Think of Michael Schumacher. He's also World No. 1 in F1 racing. But he has people teaching him how to drive better. What does this imply? This implies that even though we have experts that creates phenomenal results in their field of expertise but at the same time, unable to impart their knowledge. On the other end, we have someone who had grasp their knowledge to the intermediate level. But what they are phenomenal at, are imparting this domain knowledge to other people. These people are the great educators/trainers/teachers.Ladies and gentlemen, look for such mentors in life. I've came across people who are simply great, but hate talking to people and thus lack the ability to teach even if they want to.
I've also the luck and the privilege of meeting average joes who can really teach!Sometimes I wonder whether teaching is a science or an art. In school, there are always those few teachers who can really help students in achieving their goals. Is this their character? Or are they just special? Born with a special skill that enables them to have that special ability to impart knowledge.Quoting from Tony Robbins or perhaps NLP, people learn things in 3 major ways. Visual, Audio and Kinesthetic.
Visual people are people who learn things by looking at graphs, charts, video, etc.
Audio people are those who have to learn through listening to audio tapes, verbal instructions.
Kinesthetic people are those who have to do/practice the instructions to be able to learn.I believe those good teachers are those who understand how a human mind is structured. They are able to impart their knowledge in ways that most receptive to their students. Ladies and gentlemen, we need better mentors nowadays. With the progression of science and the understanding of human mind structure and the over-growing competitiveness of the world, we need to learn faster and better. We need better guidance and mentorship.Hope this article made you understand the reason why some experts just can't teach.
It's probably because of their inability to convey the message in the most receptive way possible.Do drop me a comment/feedback/review at the similar article found at my website.
