By the Power of Your Personal Example, Inspire Others

Author : Honoree Corpron
My girlfriend Courtney has a son named Gus. Gus is the sweetest little boy ever – and he has autism. When Courtney and I had lunch this past weekend, she whipped out organic rice cakes with organic peanut butter and fed her son at the Neiman Marcus café where we were eating lunch. She also has a precocious two-year-old daughter named Matilda. Matilda got to eat the eight jars of baby food Courtney had lovingly carried around in her bag for the two hours prior to lunch.Part of our conversation during that lunch was about a woman who had called and asked about Courtney's thoughts on taking an autistic child out into the world – including to restaurants. They sometimes make loud noises and are seemingly uncontrollable in their actions. Is it easier to stay home, rather than attempting a public outing? Courtney says no! Go out – take the food that is best for them – and have a great time. I told Courtney she just changed the destiny of that woman – and her autistic child – because she gave the woman "permission" to go for it.What does this have to do with you, your life and your business? Everything! What are you not doing that you would love to be doing – but are fearful of what others might say? What are you doing because of peer pressure – even though you would much rather be doing something else?Courtney doesn't care if others stare or make comments. She's enjoying life to the fullest – and anyone around her can see it. Her skin glows and she walks with a happy swagger. It is such a joy to be around her. Most importantly, she's living with passion and a touch of abandon – and that is giving others permission to do the same (including me).You know where there are adjustments you could make to live a more authentic and happy life. Here are a few quick things to do today to get you on your way.• Stop giving excuses and go for it! Start sharing the story of how you're going to make it happen (instead of telling how it isn't). Step out of the "stories and justifications" of why what you want is not possible and into all of the possibilities and ways that it is.• Get a journal – find one that you really love. Write down how you want your life to be – include all of the things you know you would enjoy doing, having and creating – regardless of what others might say. It could be a new job or career, an exercise program you want to start (Pilates, anyone?) or anything you know would be great for you and would nourish your spirit.• Surround yourself with others who are like-minded. There's something really empowering about having friends who are cheering you on as you rock your own world – and theirs, too.I promise -- this joy-filled existence isn't just for Courtney. It's for you, too. When you stick to your eating program, exercise program, change your career, create the relationship of your dreams and achieve your goals, you inspire others to do the same. Today is the day – now is the time – for you to begin to live your life with as much passion and intention as is humanly possible. Be the light you know you can be, and watch how your light creates light in others.About the Author: Honorée Corpron is a Coach, Personal Transformation Expert and Author of Tall Order! 7 Master Strategies to Organize Your Life and Double Your Success in Half the Time.
