An old fable tells about a religious man and a flood. As the water began to rise, the man's neighbor came by in a boat and offered to take him to safer ground. He politely declined, saying, "God will save me." When the water had risen up to his second floor windows, authorities came by in a rescue boat. They shouted impatiently at him to get into the boat, but he sent them off, saying, "God will watch out for me." Later, as he sat on his roof with water lapping at its edges, a military helicopter hovered above him; a rescue officer was lowered to bring him up into the aircraft. Again he refused . . . and later drowned. When he reached heaven, he was furious and demanded a meeting with God. "God," he said, "How could you let me down like this? Why didn't you save me?" God replied, "I sent you two boats and a plane! What more did you want?"Do you sometimes miss the boats and the planes in your life? Many of us manage NOT TO SEE a great deal of what's in front of us! Information and opportunity come our way all the time – and we often miss them. Sometimes we look right past these openings because they look so ordinary. We actually HAVE what we've been seeking in our lives, but we do not "get it" because no drum roll sounds, no name glitters in lights, and the New York Times does not mention a word about it. My friend Cathy recently shared an example of this with me. She said, "Ten years ago, where I am NOW in my life felt like a far-distant dream. I don't think of my current life as a dream come true because it feels so 'regular' to me – it's just my life. But I have really worked very long and hard for this. And here it is."A client of mine decided that he wanted to go into private practice after doing his work within organizations for many years. He approached the decision with much fear about whether he would have enough clients. Then he began to SEE that he already had some private clients! He began to realize that he had a powerful professional referral network, a strong and widely known reputation, and great content skills for doing the work. In fact he had been turning down private work for years. All he really had to do was start saying "Yes."Sometimes we miss seeing what is true in our lives because we are so stubbornly obsessed with having it look a particular way. When I first left my systems analyst job, I felt POSSESSED by my loss of income. On a daily basis, I felt dominated by a sense of scarcity and lack of resources. That May when the lilacs bloomed, I felt sorry I did not have the money to buy some cut lilacs for my kitchen table as I had in prior years. One evening I came home from grocery shopping to find a huge bunch of lilacs in a vase on my kitchen table, twice the size I ever would have bought for myself. I was stunned and thrilled. Where had they come from? One of my daughters' friends who had been spending a lot of time at our house had brought them for me. Her family had enormous lilac bushes in their yard, and she had thought that I might like some. This profound, mind-shifting experience opened up my eyes to the enormous abundance in my life. Her simple act of generosity helped me understand, at a much deeper level, that wealth is not just about money. It helped me to grow a larger vision of my life and myself. This new sense of possibility supported me to become more of the kind of mother I wanted to be and pointed the way to finding my next career: coaching.Other times we are oblivious to the magic in our lives because the timing is different from what we expect. A friend started looking for a fall teaching job early one spring. Seven months and 32 interviews later, she landed the perfect job. At just a few weeks into the school year she knew she absolutely loved the position. Now, when she looks back on the long process leading up to her hiring, she realizes it unfolded as it needed to, although at the time she felt rejected and defeated. She says she would not have recognized this job as the 'perfect' one when she began the application process, nor would she have felt qualified to take on the required responsibilities. But by the time the school district offered her the position, she was able to recognize it as right for her. She felt completely ready to accept the job. She now feels that she was being guided the whole time. Timing was a factor she hadn't anticipated. When the timing was right, the job materialized.Another important category of information that we sometimes
undervalue is one that elicits a "you can't be serious" response from us. When information comes with a light touch or a huge degree of coincidence, it is sometimes hard to accept as real information, but it is! Lynn Robinson, an intuition coach based in the Boston area, was having difficulty writing her newsletter after the tragic events of 9/11. However, when she read the message on her computer screen saying, "You have been disconnected," she knew SHE had to reconnect with her intuition. While between careers, I was extremely impatient to know what my new work would be. In my daily meditations, I frequently saw images of eggs: ducks, geese, robins, and sparrows sitting on eggs; eggs in egg crates; eggs jumping out of crates; eggs in nests. At first I was exasperated; I needed answers here, not eggs! But eventually I realized that I WAS getting answers, just not the kind of answers I had expected. MY eggs were not ready to hatch yet; they were still incubating. I needed to continue keeping them warm for a longer time. That was the answer: sit tight, be patient, and keep doing what you're doing. All this I did, and yes, they hatched in their own sweet time!Keb Mo, a contemporary songwriter, created these lyrics: "You might be hip or you might be blind. She'll put the message right in your mind.Might look like a plan or a coalition. It might be God trying to get your attention. You might be hip or you might be dumb. You'll get the answer when the answer comes. Maybe it's just news on your television. Or it might be God trying to get your attention." Very often, what we seek is right in front of us in the form of
opportunities, information, feedback, and answers to our most burning questions. The issue is not "Is it there?" but rather "Will we see it?" See if you can take off some of your blinders. Look for answers and information everywhere. In particular, be on the lookout for boats and planes! These sometimes well-disguised modes of travel can come from any direction at any time to help you in your transitions and passages. COACHING TIPS:Here are some questions that may help you to see these dynamics in your own life. Write down your answers – this helps anchor your process in the present.
What questions are you currently seeking answers for?
What KINDS of answers or results are you looking for? Are you limiting the way you're looking? How might you take your blinders off?
How else might the answers look? What other form or content might they have? Use your imagination here – really let 'er rip!
Where and when in your past have you received information or realizations from unexpected sources?
Where in your life do you feel stranded, stuck or at a plateau? Perhaps the timing just is not right yet. Do you remember when something you wanted just was not ready to happen, but when the timing was right, it did happen?
Where in your life is something "just right"? Are you now
manifesting something that was once a dream?

Success Lessons From Tennis That Can Change Your Life
Author : John Watson
Most sports are full of lessons for the discerning. Tennis is no exception. Wimbledon 2005 is over now but hopefully some of the lessons described below will live on for ever.In the first week of Wimbledon on June 20th 2005, a commentator asked why Venus Williams, a former Wimbledon champion, was only fourteenth in the women's circuit. As one might expect, John McEnroe had the answer:"It is too easy to turn down the chance to workout for an hour in favour of a chance to see Michangelo's David."In other words, Venus was goofing off by enjoying world culture instead of keeping her nose to the grindstone and working hard like the other girls. In the end, however, Venus won Wimbledon and regained her championship and her form.Maybe McEnroe was wrong and her talent and previous hard work were enough to bring her the rewards. Maybe she was working out in secret! Maybe she had already put in an hour's practice and was free to follow her other interests. However, whether right or wrong, McEnroe highlights one of the great success secrets of all time. We have a choice about how we spend each hour of the day.If we spend hours a day watching TV, we will usually accomplish little but if we spend one hour a day practising a skill like copywriting or playing the flute we will gradually become an expert at that skill. After six months or even less, we should be able to make money at these skills or, at least, teach them to others. If we spend an hour a day reading a book on how to make money, our chances of making money will increase. If we walk for an hour each day our health should improve. The power of the hour is enormous. It has been suggested by Al Secunda, author of 'The 15 second Principle', that we should spend at least 15 seconds a day learning a skill we wish to master. Another 15 seconds could be spent on dealing with an overwhelming task like filing all that paper that has amassed so swiftly. A third 15 second period could be spent on achieving one of our goals. If we keep up this habit of working for 15 seconds a day, we will probably eventually upgrade to an hour a day. We will spend an hour learning a new skill, an hour dealing with an overwhelming task and an hour achieving one of our goals. If you like acronyms you could use SOG to remember those three hours i.e. Skill, Overwhelming task, Goal. Even if you only spend three hours a day on these three things, you will have accomplished far more than most. If necessary start with just 15 seconds or five minutes for each of the three objectives and then gradually increase the amount of time spent. On Tuesday 21st June, the second day of Wimbledon, Tim Henman, who usually manages to lose a match before he gets into the semi-finals of Wimbledon, was playing the talented Finn, Nieminen, who had put Agassi out of the first round of the Paris Open.Tim lost the first two sets but regained his form, composure and belief in the nick of time to win against Nieminen. He commented:"I was not in form but I was proud of myself for making do with what I had at the time."A large part of success is "making do with what we have at the time."On Thursday June 23rd 2005, Andrew Murray, the possible Scottish replacement for Henman, who was ranked 312 in the world woke up with a headache and sore throat but he made do with what he had and went on to beat Radec Stepanek, the Czech ranked 14 in the world, on the same day that Tim Henman went out of the competition. On Wednesday June 22nd 2005, Mike Litman, one of my favourite motivators, sent out his ezine containing his comments on a Forbes Magazine article about the tennis sensation, Maria Sharapova, who is already a huge attraction at WimbledonMaria is from Russia and she won Wimbledon last year. It was a huge upset that catapulted her to stardom. She made 20 million dollars last year and is only seventeen.Mike Litman was fascinated by the 3rd paragraph of the article which starts with:"This is the payoff for 12 years of six-hour practice days and constant travel...."Six hours of practice a day is no fun. It might be for an hour or so but after that it becomes sheer graft. Constant travel is no fun either after the first few journeys. It is a tough and lonely business. Not only Maria but her family also have made huge sacrifices. They have earned their money.Mike Litman comments:"I come across so many people that expect success and money to happen in 2 minutes. I admit that I used to be like that too. You start something, 60 days go by and no big payoff; you quit, start something new, and the same thing happens over and over again. It's a vicious circle."Everything changed for Mike when he started to pay the price, improve his discipline and make his goals smaller. He also is doing very well now and is well known in internet circles. He insists that we all can be highly successful if we are willing to pay the price. On Friday, 24th June 2005, Taylor Dent of the USA gave a great performance of spinning his racket as well as playing tennis. I am sorry that I missed much of this but was delighted by the little bit I did see.I congratulate Taylor on giving that bit of extra value to the spectators. He or she who gives extra value will soon be valued highly themselves. The first five days of Wimbledon 2005, then, can teach us to work hard for an hour a day at a skill, an overwhelming task and a goal. We can learn to SOG off rather than to goof off! Sorry, I couldn't resist the corny word play. It might just help us to remember the point better. We can learn to make do with what we have on the day even if we are not at our best. We can learn to pay the price of success and we can try to give extra value by doing more than people expect from us. If we do all this we shall surely become champions of living and become an inspiration to others.About the authorJohn Watson is an award winning teacher and fifth degree black belt martial arts instructor. Why Many People Fail to Succeed

You are never a failure until you accept defeat as permanent and quit trying. Everyone faces defeat. It may be a stepping-stone or a stumbling block, depending on the mental attitude with which it is faced.Very rarely do we find home business entrepreneurs succeed at their first attempt. one has to learn through the school of hard knocks, before one can emerge as a champion of success. While failure forms the foundation for the building of success, we can shorten the route to our success by learning from the mistakes of other people. Selecting the right BusinessWe reap what we sow. If you are only kicking the tires, testing the waters, then it is fine to move on if you do not feel suited to a particular business. But once you commit yourself, you should act like you have invested thousands of dollars in your business and treat your business that way. It may take a few months to even a couple of years but if you persist with the right business opportunity, you cannot fail.Other Factors that leads to failure may be- Wrong or misleading information- Lack of Clear Directions- Lack of Support from uppline- Lack of money to invest in your business- Lack of technical knowledge to build and manage your website- Lack of time to run your business- Products are not selling- Fear of RejectionBut know this, all these are secondary reasons, or rather excuses for failure. The #1 Sin Made by Success Seekers!
Author : Kenneth Goh
Have you ever wondered why some people are able to make their dreams a reality while others' hopes and dreams remain only a fantasy? What is it that propels some people to higher level of fulfillment; lifestyle and happiness while others remain stuck at the lover level their entire lives? Life is too short to waste on a treadmill, which makes us feel stuck and unhappy. We are not born to wake up each day to fulfill obligations and then to fall wearily into our beds at the end of the day. Many books, CDs and seminars promise the quick fix and magic pill to make all your dreams come true or solve all your problems. What participants experienced is temporary motivation that fizzles out when days go by. The answer lies not in motivation, but inspiration.Motivation is simply a result of inspiration. When you are inspired, your life takes on a new meaning and you embark on a wonderful journey with the assurance that you are going somewhere. It is when life gets empty; we either occupy ourselves with diversions and unworthy distractions. Or, we can set out on worthy quests to reach higher levels of fulfillment. We need to know that true success comes from inspiration and not from the mere doses of short-lived motivation. Knowing that inspiration rather than motivation is the key to success is already half the battle won. Self-esteem: The Enamel of Success
Author : Cathy Warschaw
We all experience pride in ourselves when we earn a good grade on an exam or reach a personal goal. In fact, the ability to take pleasure in our achievements is a big reason why we continue to pursue our dreams and take risks. This pride and pleasure we experience is called self-esteem and it is very important to reaching our career goals. The definition of self-esteem is basically when you have confidence and satisfaction in your own skills and abilities, and it is usually achieved through experiences of personal success. Self-esteem helps you to cope with difficult challenges when they arise and gives you the faith to overcome them.Self-esteem is critical to your career success. You need lots of it at all stages of your career – whether it's for a job search, as a new employee, working with others, or dealing with stress and deadlines. If you're like most people, you may wonder if you've got enough self-esteem to reach your career goals. Fortunately, there are steps that you can take to build and strengthen your self-worth.To begin with, create a plan where you can get daily exercise and eat a balanced diet of healthy foods. Maintaining care and respect for your body also has benefits for your mind and promotes healthy thoughts about your self-worth.Remember to engage in activities that are fun and meaningful to you. Participate regularly in a hobby that you enjoy or perhaps volunteer at an animal shelter if you're fond of furry creatures. Nurturing your interests is a great way to remind yourself of what's important to you.Reward yourself for your achievements by celebrating with friends, getting a massage, or offering a kind word of praise to yourself. Every time you recognize a success, you are building a stronger trust and support system within yourself.Create a list of successes that you can refer to in times of self-doubt. This is a wonderful way to stay in touch with your inner strength and reinforce your ability to overcome obstacles.Lastly, forgive yourself when things don't quite turn out like you expected; being critical of your efforts only serves to chip away at self-esteem. Release any feelings of guilt or shame to make room for poise and confidence.Using these steps to build and strengthen your self-esteem takes practice and dedication, but the results are well worth your efforts. Your self-esteem is your most valuable asset in reaching your goal of a rewarding career – so fix it and forget it!"Changing Lives...One Career at a Time."The Warschaw Learning Institute has grown to become the leading online dental office training among today's dental professionals, adults changing careers and high school seniors.Contact Details:

You First or Me First?
Author : Graham Harris
When do you put YOU FIRST and when do you put ME FIRST?Some businesses suggest that they always put YOU, the customer, FIRST but do they?
Some parents say they always put their children FIRST, but do they?
Some partners always say they put their partner first but is that good for the relationship? Both YOU FIRST and ME FIRST are essential to the way we run our lives. The problem is that when we get them the wrong way round we suffer, the people around us suffer and we set ourselves up to fail.In other words if we say to ourselves YOU FIRST when we should really be saying ME FIRST then we have just lost our opportunity.
We have just placed ourselves in second place and let the world run over us. We have just started the downward spiral of "I'm not good enough" or "I can't do this".If, however, we say to ourselves ME FIRST when we should really have said YOU FIRST then we have allowed our ego to run us.
We are now on the slippery slope of 'I', 'I', 'I', where everything revolves around me. We are, in effect saying, I should be listened to and my opinions and actions are important. So the question is do you use ME FIRST and YOU FIRST at the right time? Most of us use ME FIRST when we should be using YOU FIRST and use YOU FIRST when we should be using ME FIRST.Why most people make these mistakesMost people use the YOU FIRST and the ME FIRST at the wrong time because:• they feel they don't have enough time and they feel they can do the task better and quicker.• they want to impress others.• they want to be known and seen.• they want respect.• they want to avoid threatening situations.• if the situation could result in difficulties of any kind they want others to go first.• they don't want to show their lack of abilities or knowledge.• they prefer to put the onus on another person in case the project fails.• they don't trust themselves enough.A Quick rule of thumb to ensure success. If it is an opportunity for your own self development and the opportunity to lead by example then your attitude should be one of ME FIRST.ME FIRST is when I can take the initiative. I can use my specialities at this time. I have the skills and can assist others in this situation.ME FIRST is when there is an opportunity to develop my skills and my life. To stretch myself. To put myself in situations where I can learn and benefit from the experience. In an organisation where change is needed it will be "Let me change first" because if I change then others will follow. I can be the example.YOU FIRST is when you see an opportunity to help someone else achieve what they want to achieve. Either to help another person grow and gain skills or to enable another person to use their skills and abilities. You put someone else's interest before yours. In other words YOU FIRST is when you have the opportunity to be a great coach. The SECRETThe secret is in your attitude. Your attitude is the seed to your behaviour. What ever your attitude when you are thinking will be the result. So if you feel arrogant or superior or over confident. Or, you feel that you want to hurt someone or get your own back. You use ME FIRST instead of YOU FIRST.It's that simple.Just for a moment look back over your actions today. How many times did you think YOU FIRST when it should have been ME FIRST?How many times did you say ME FIRST when it should have been YOU FIRST?How many times did you get it right?Good luck.Graham and Julie

Are People Scribbling On Your Dreams?
Author : Andrew Shim
I recently took my kids to a movie titled "Shark Boy and Lava Girl". In the movie, a boy named Max dreamt of a planet where children could have endless fun. He called it Planet Drool. He recorded all his dreams in his dream journal. So real were Max's dreams that he actually dreamt the planet into existence until one day when the class bully, Linus stole his dream journal and scribbled all over its pages. As a result of Max's dream journal being defaced with scribbles, Planet Drool was thrown into danger of destruction, so Shark Boy, Lava Girl and Max had no choice but to try and save Planet Drool which they obviously did in the end.It was an entertaining movie, especially for the kids, but there was one important lesson in the movie that we can all learn. Every idea or dream starts out on the beautiful canvas of our minds, but how it ends up depends very much on who you choose to share your dream with. When you share your dreams with the wrong people, you get a lot of "buts" - "but you know…", "but I don't think", "but are you really sure….?", "but what if….". They begin to scribble on your dreams with their negativity. You start to factor all this negativity into the already confusing equations of your dreams and chances are you'll end up shelving that fantastic idea in the back of your mind, together with the thousand other ideas that have suffered the same fate!Sharing your dreams with the right people has the exact opposite effect. Instead of "buts", you get encouragement and support to help you transform your empty canvas into a masterpiece! It's easy to find scribblers – they're everywhere – but when you find people to share your dreams with who will dream with you, treasure them, and learn from them! Here are some tips on how to keep people from scribbling on your dreams :
Reality check! Know yourself – know what you're good at and what you're not. Know what drives you and what you're passionate about. When you do what you're passionate about, the sky's the limit.Do your homework. Find out everything you can about your dream before your share it with the world. Visit the library. Scour the Internet. Ask people who are already doing it or have done it. Mind you, make sure they've been successful, otherwise they're going to scribble all over your dream.Don't walk with turkeys. There's a saying "you can't fly with eagles when you keep walking with turkeys"! People will always give you their two-cents worth, without realizing the effect their words have. Every negative word you hear has the potential to scribble its way into your subconscious. If you keep company with turkeys, your dreams are going to end up burnt to a crisp and served on the thanksgiving table.Fly with eagles. Keep company with eagles – people who know what it takes to make dreams come true, people who are positive! Keep your heart and mind fixed on your goal. If you're sure a dream is workable, then find ways to work it! Seek guidance and support from the eagles in your life. Never be afraid to ask questions and seek help.Make your dreams real. The best way to do this is to write down every dream or idea you have. Writing them down makes your dreams something tangible you can see and work on. Vocalize your dream. Visualize you reaching your goal everyday. Keep them in your heart and make sure you jealously guard your dreams against the scribblers.Persistence and patience. If a dream is worth dreaming, it's worth struggling for. Problems WILL arise. Take them in stride and keep your eyes fixed on your goal. Break every problem into smaller tasks and solve them one by one. Remember… "How do you move a mountain? One stone at a time, one rock at a time, one boulder at a time".I wished I had learnt this truth twenty years ago. Whether it's setting up your own home business or making a million dollars or something that's never been done before, dreams and ideas are the seeds of your future. Never, ever let people scribble on your dream! Protect them and nurture them as you would a young tree and watch it turn into a forest of all that you desire!Andrew Shim is the owner and editor of PositiveMoneyIdeas.com a website which offers FREE Money Making Ideas for those interested in starting their own freelance or home based business and http://www.PositiveTones.com a FREE resource website for Positive Living.
