Well, yes. If they want to get jobs, that is.A cover letter takes the best of your qualifications professional traits and makes them enticing attractive to prospective employers. Itâ™s a carefully crafted letter that directs the employer to the resume to determine why you are the best candidate for the job.Competition for Marketing Managers is keen. You have to stand out from the crowd in a positive, exciting way to ensure you are the one employers are determined to hire. How do you accomplish this?If you have already written your resume, the words you need are basically prepared for you. Itâ™s much easier to pull from the resume and reflect on your character when you have put the time in to document your professional personal history. The cover letter builds on the resume and leads the employer toward it in an artfu. Its goal is to get the employer excited about the resume. It is a sales tool, just like the resume is. Sell yourself in a compelling and exciting way. Inject energy and let your best qualities reach the employer through carefully written examples and anecdotes. Donâ™t just state what you are capable of, show the employer with vibrant language that attracts and invites the employer to want to know more.Let your personality show, but remain professional.Advertising, marketing, promotions, public relations, and sales managers held about 700,000 jobs in 2002. (Bureau of Labor Statistics)Are there a lot of Marketing Manager positions available? Yes, there are probably a lot of positions you COULD get, but do you want just ANY job? Or, do you want a job where you will have opportunities to advance, make more money and send your career to new heights? You have to be your very best to get the great jobs. Your cover letter and your resume are your sales resources. Make them work for you.The cover letter is the first thing an employer sees. Make sure it is impeccable. Proofread it just as meticulously as you did the resume. If it has even one mistake, it could make the difference between getting a phone call or not.State clearly what position you are seeking and tailor the cover letter, just as you did with the resume, to the specific position and employer.Have you read that before somewhere? Yes, you have. Thatâ™s because it is very important. Mass marketing general resumes and cover letters to a host of employers is a thing of the past. Targeting a resume and cover letter is essential in todayâ™s competitive environment if you are to be successful.Look at it this way: Your competition is doing it. If you donâ™t do it, too, who do you think is going to get the interview and the job offer?âœEmployment of advertising, marketing, promotions, public relations, and sales managers is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2012, spurred by intense domestic and global competition in products and services offered to consumers.â
(Bureau of Labor Statistics)Finding the perfect job in a great company will always take some work, but the rewards will be worthwhile if you take the time to work through the job-search process right.A cover letter alone isnâ™t likely to persuade an employer to grant you an interview, but it is part of the whole package that WILL encourage an employer to want to get to know you better. Make it an exciting and enjoyable read and you will find yourself being offered the next Marketing Manager position you apply for.Best of luck!Carla Vaughan is the owner of Professional-Resume-Example.com, a web site devoted to assisting candidates in the job-search process. Colorado Divorce Planning
Colorado divorce planning could prove to be a complicated undertaking. You might be stunned if your partner tells you that he or she will be pursuing a divorce. What is more, you might come home someday to an empty home and a message, with your partner and kids gone. If that happens, you might be incapable of doing any Colorado divorce and separation planning yourself. Of course, your partner could have schemed excellently and you could see that belongings have been converted and secreted or expended over a period of time, or that a move was conscientiously orchestrated using the help of counsel with the purpose to bootstrap a custody issue. Though that kind of orchestrated underhanded preparation rarely takes place, it does take place and should be a warning to any individual who is weighing a Colorado divorce: preparation and strategies are critical and ought to be considered by everybody. To make sure that you are doing the best Colorado divorce and separation preparation and employing the right legal tactics, you may need the assistance of a lawyer. An experienced Colorado family lawyer has gone through it all. He or she has handled enough cases to understand what strategies might be practiced by the adversary, what strategies are effective, and which strategies would work for your family situation. Using tactics and planning does not dictate that you are setting up divorce litigation. It signals that you are aware of the facts necessary to proceed with your suit, your goals and that you have carefully strategized how to get where you want to go. A practiced settlement dialogue will not take place without a lot of thought and preparation. Some clients fail to see the genuine value obtained from their lawyer. Actually, many clients will claim that they did the necessary work in obtain information or in getting information to their lawyer, only to be confronted with a large invoice, and they want to know why. The "why" is because of the Colorado lawyer's level of experience and number of years practicing and the lawyer's ability to work out your tactics to get the result that you desire. The tactics and planning that you should undertake before starting a Colorado divorce do make a difference to the end result of your case. There are some things that everybody will have to undertake, like obtaining your various economic documents. Many planning and strategy issues are very specific to your own case, such as, the history of your married life and your situation at the time. Whatever your personal circumstances, your preparation must be undertaken after thorough consideration of all your facts and a thorough conversation about your goals with your lawyer.Various individuals facing the same circumstances could use different Colorado divorce plans simply because they are focused on different results. If obtaining a negotiated settlement and not going to Court are what you want, your lawyer could have to engage in different maneuvers than if you want the end result to be determined by the court. If your lawyer has obtained all of your facts and is familiar with the results your require, they will be able to prepare a tactical outline that should meet your goals.Since divorce or separation is frequently a battle over money, getting all of the relevant information about your family finances will be a very important task. You must have copies of three or four years income tax returns, your w-2 and your spouse's w-2 from each employer for each of those years. If you do not know where to locate those documents, you can get duplicates from the IRS. If you are obtaining these records secretly and do not want your partner to find out that you are engaging in divorce or separation planning, ask that your tax returns be mailed to your business office address, a friend, or to your lawyer.A chronicle of your years together while married is very important to other matters that your Colorado divorce or separation lawyer might need to take care of for you. Many lawyers request that you supply some sort of outline to assist them in taking care of your case. If your lawyer does not require one, you should prepare one anyway. The effort that you put into that outline may help your lawyer on matter like fault, custody of the children, and support, and it may save your lawyer preparation time for your lawsuit and thus, reduce your legal fees. The more effort you put into obtaining, and preparing important facts and documents for your Colorado divorce or separation lawyer, the less effort you will expend in your lawyer's office reviewing those issues. Perhaps your attorney will spend less time on fact finding and more of your funds will then be spent on planning and preparation.Attorney Jean Mahserjian is the author of numerous websites and books devoted to helping consumers through the process of separation and divorce. 20 Essential Traits Needed For All Sales Executives
It has long been my conviction that the dominant factor in
success is the set of mental habits possessed by the individual.
Of no vocation is this truer than that of the salesman. "As a
man thinketh . . ." applies to him in an all-important way. The
techniques and skills, methods of approach, demonstration and
closing are matters of demanding study and practice., These
things are cold, mechanical, wooden and ineffective except as
they are warmed, energized and implemented by the dynamics of a
positive personality. A positive personality is never found
apart from deep conviction, genuine belief in the fundamentals,
the "copybook virtues" known and honored by men and women of
character in all generations.
This conviction was strengthened in me some time ago when there
came to hand a report of a questionnaire circulated among the
members of a Sales Executives Club. These men and women are "top
brass" in the sales departments of big business. They have
responsibility for the distribution of their firm's product;
have in some cases hundreds, even thousands, of sales managers
and salesmen under their guidance and direction. The
recruitment, training and management of these forces are their
daily concern.
The question asked these sales executives was: What are the
qualities or traits of character you value most in salesmen?
This is the list they offered, the traits being stated in the
order of importance attached to them by these sales executives.
There is food for thought here. Note for instance that
"persuasiveness" is toward the end of the list. Most people
would list the art of persuasion as perhaps synonymous with
salesmanship but according to these sales executives there are
other more import traits, they are listed below.
Dependability was chosen as the most important.
Integrity was next. With this trait the salesman is incapable
either of being false to the trust his company places in him or
to the real interests of his customer.
Knowledge of product is one of the three fundamentals of success
in the field of selling.
Self Time-management Perhaps no vocation gives a man a greater
degree of latitude. He must be a good "boss" for himself and
exact a high degree of self-discipline for selling.
Work organization is efficiency in self-management. Much of a
salesman's time is wasted by the prospect. He must guard the
balance jealously and make every minute count.
Sincerity excludes falsification of every shade. It must be
real, few can "pretend" with success.
Initiative is the salesman's spark plug.
Industriousness is devotion to the job, never being unemployed
during work hours
Acceptance of responsibility for the car, for the sales
material, records, samples and above all for the company's good
name and the customer's good will.
Understanding of buyer motives this being another of the big
three fundamentals of selling.
Sales ethics No longer is the slogan "caveat emptor" (let the
buyer beware) but "caveat vendator" (let the seller beware).
Judgment is not inherited. It can be developed as a habit. Logic
is a subject that should be a "must" for sales people.
Care of health, mental, physical, spiritual, financial.
Courtesy is more than politeness. It is consideration for
others, deference to their opinions, their rank, their sex,
their age.
Determination is a dogged adherence to a carefully worked out
and settled program and purpose. The will to carry through.
Unwillingness to compromise with anything less than your best
performance.
Aggressiveness requires self-confidence and the language of
assurance in all interviews. It is pressure applied without
offensiveness.
Friendliness involves warmth of feeling, a positive type of
cordiality that does not involve back-slapping or wise-cracking.
Resourcefulness Wide knowledge, curiosity, retentive memory,
wide-awakeness. Quick thinking in the clinches.
Persuasiveness goes beyond the realm of reasoning, an appeal to
feelings, desires, and emotions.
Appreciation of selling as a profession and as the road to
personal success. Awareness of the fact that the field of
"distribution" offers more in money, satisfaction, opportunity
for service, and personal growth in all of the inner virtues and
faculties than any other calling, especially more than anything
in the field of "production."

How to Get Some of Paris Hilton's TV Time
When your book is mentioned on television, sales go up. Immediately people start looking in book stores and on the internet to find out how to buy it. The more people hear about it, the more they want the book. When several shows are talking about the book, it become a best seller. Look at the success of Oprah's Book club, The Today Show's Book Clubs and all the other shows that feature a writer and their book. Sometimes the writer is interviewed but sometimes the writer doesn't even have to be on the show in order to sell books.
It made Mark Victor Hansen, the Chicken Soup book author multi- millions. They have published over 85 books. But how do you get your book on TV if you do not have a large budget for a PR company? Who can you call to get that first break? How can you get a tape of a good interview so other producers will take a chance and book you?
How do you show you are a good guest even though you are new? It takes a lot more than an simple email or phone call saying that you have a book and would be the PERFECT guest.First- Look at your book and then look at the current news headlines. Is there anything in your book that can relate to the current news? If so, you have a reason to call TV shows and pitch getting on the show. If you are current with the news, you have an excellent chance of getting on. People are already talking about your topic. You can work your way in and then talk about the rest of your bookSecond- Make a list of the show you would like to be on. Make sure they are shows that would want to have you. Don't try to get on a cooking show if you are talking about cars. The Shows have to want to talk to you about your subject. Your subject matter should be on target with what the show is about.
Look at TV shows, and shows on the web. Watch them and actually see what kinds of books and topics they talk about. Watch the style used.Third- prepare your pitch. This is where you write out what you want to say when you speak to a producer or leave a message over the phone. Plan what you are going to say. You only have a few seconds to get their attention. Sound solid in your voice and on target. Tell them WHY their viewers will want to see you , don't just say you will be a good guest and they need you on the show. Tell them what is special and unique. Let them know if you give away books or any items when you appear. Leave your phone number 2 times for clarity. Make a list of who you called and what show they were with. Wait and wait for a call back. You can do a follow up call but wait a few weeks.Copyright 2005Dr. Wright is the host of The Wright Place™ TV Show, a talk show for women entrepreneurs that can be seen in 5 million homes in Southern California and on the Internet. Attention Freelancers -- Set a Goal for Fun and Joy
Set a Goal for Something You've Always Wanted to Do
You say, "I am generally satisfied with my life, so should I still set goals and what kind of goals?" I hear exactly what you are saying. I love my life. It is busy and filled with the work and play I enjoy. I find, however, that there is always a new risk to take, a new and enriching endeavor to tackle, and a subject or skill to learn. In this fast changing world, there is something new happening everyday. I am not suggesting joining the frenetic pace, but how about trying something you have always wanted to do?I am a storyteller and a couple of years ago decided I wanted to enhance my telling by adding a drum beat to certain stories. I set a goal to learn how to drum and the minute I did, I received a community bulletin offering a continuing education class in African drumming. What fun I had! I am not a professional drummer by any stretch of the imagination, but I do have a Djembe and know enough to use it with pizzazz during certain tales. What I am attempting to stress here is that goals don't have to be heavy and rigid or overwhelming. They can and should add joy and delight to your life.Goals Will Enhance Your Freelance Career
All right. Goals are powerful. But how can they enhance my freelance life and career? Even if the goals you set are not directly related to your career situation, every goal you reach will strengthen your confidence and self-esteem, both of which add to your presence with clients and when networking. Every goal that forces you to take risks will help you take more risks as a freelancer, therefore giving you a unique and special style of your own.The freelancer with confidence and style is the freelancer who will be hired in today's tough job market. The freelancer who takes risks will help clients take risks. And, the freelancer who sets goals will accomplish everything he or she desires.Remember, there is one more important part of goal setting. Goals that are set without taking action on them are the beginning of delusion. Goals with action are the beginning of miracles. So set some goals and get busy.Chris King is a free agent, professional speaker, storyteller, writer, website creator / designer, and fitness instructor. Excessive Credit Card Debt
Most people advocate the case of credit cards, quoting the benefits and convenience that arises from them. However, there is another group/line-of-thought that strongly opposes credit cards. The reason being â˜Excessive Credit Card Debtâ™, which is one of the most serious problems faced by the credit card holders and credit card industry. However, you canâ™t pull the shutters on the credit card industry just because of a few irresponsible people (or even if itâ™s more than few). That is not a solution for beating excessive credit card debt. Moreover, you canâ™t overlook the benefits associated with the credit cards. The issue of excessive credit card debt can be looked at from 2 angles. First is addressing of the excessive credit card debt problem at the industry level and second is the addressing of the excessive credit card debt problem at the individualâ™s level i.e. at the credit card holder level. The first method involves increasing awareness of the excessive credit card debt problem to the masses. This is more or less being done currently too. However, there should also be an effort to tackle this problem of excessive credit card debt at an even deeper level. This means trying to devise a mechanism to nip the problem (of excessive credit card debt) in the bud. This mechanism should actually be a part of the overall system. A lot of thought needs to go into devising such a mechanism. Case studies should be taken up, statistics gathered and a proper forum formed (with representatives from the credit card holders and from the credit card suppliers). As of now, the credit card suppliers just seem to be engaged in coming out with new products and getting customers enrolled to those products. There is little attention paid towards addressing the problem of excessive credit card debt in the real sense. Something like attending mandatory seminars on the root causes of excessive credit card debt could be made part of the credit card application process.Another way of dealing with the problem of excessive credit card debt could be: developing a system for calculation of applicable credit card limit at the individual level i.e. no standard/product-based credit limits. Then there could be mechanisms for proactively warning the users about excessive credit card debt (based on their credit card usage) or even imposition of early restrictions on noticing the first signs that lead to excessive credit card debt.At the individualâ™s level, the treatment of the problem of excessive credit card debt would include following of best practices (on credit card usage and avoidance of excessive credit card debt) by the individuals themselves. A checklist or a set of questions could be provided to individuals for recognising the first signs of excessive credit card debt. So, the problem of excessive credit card debt can surely be dealt with by putting together some serious thinking at a broader level together with discipline at the individualâ™s level. What was started as an online store, has turned into a growing collection of internet resources on subjects ranging from Network Marketing, Investing, Health, Travel and Credit Cards.
